Template provides central control over how the documents are composed (meta tagged) when being created.
You choose a template when you create a document. A properly chosen template systemizes your data and helps retrieve it easily. The most commonly used Blank template lacks those fields that could better describe data stored in a document. Therefore, we recommend that you create templates according to your own needs and use those templates when you create a document.

Template Customization
Template is 100 % customizable. While creating a new template you define name, data types, order of document fields, optional/required nature of these fields, and service information that will help to create/modify a document.
Data type defines the format of the field, i.e. "currency" for the Budget field or "text" for the Customer field. eDocsOnline offers 19 data types including text entry, checkbox and drop down menu. A properly chosen data type significantly reduces misprints and helps information stay organized.

Template Security
After creating a template you can share it with other members of your workspace. Template security ensures that you can share a template only with members selected by you. This prevents unauthorized documents from being created.

Template unifies your documents. For example, Invoice templates created by you, may have "Description", "Delivery Date", "Customer", "Terms of delivery", "Terms of payment", and "Total Amount" fields that are required to complete when invoices are entered into eDocsOnline.
Such unification not only makes your documents stay organized but also enables you to search for documents that respond to your very special requests. For example, you can find all Invoices issued to ABC corporation by John Smith in April 2004 in just a few seconds.
